Damn, I thought the VW was going to save it, then they over corrected and lost it again. :/

Who’s fault? MUSTANGS.

I was the driver of the mustang.

Vw doesn’t know how to check mirrors before merging like his life depended on it.

Trying to wrap my mind around the discrepancy between who the video uploader seems to think is at fault here. Maybe I’m reading too much into this, but I’m getting a sense of bitter sarcasm from the video title... as if he wants to blame the VW yet Mustang driver was found-at fault.

I don’t know if the camera-car signaled or not, but the decision to merge in the first place is puzzling. At any rate, I can’t get a good read on anyone’s actual speed here, but I think it’s safe to say that the Mustang and VW were street racing. And if speeding automatically forfeits right-of-way here like it does in my state, then yeah Mustang driver is SOL. womp womp

I’m unsure how you can even lose control of a Golf at like, any speed. With zero electronic assistance, mine handles incredibly neutrally, and I can only imagine that a more refined chassis would handle even better. I guess being hit by a Mustang would have something to do with it...

I’m betting they were racing, the Mustang had to dodge a car, clipped the VW, sending him into the spin. I was ready to applaud him for pulling a 360 at speed and pulling out of it, then FAIL.

I've never pulled a 360 in my Golf. But that just means I haven't driven it in snow yet.

I used to love ripping 360s and 180s at speed in my little “auto-x” Accent. You definitely don’t need snow so long as you have a working e-brake and can grab gears quick.

What sucks is it looks like the car in front of the c amera moved right because he saw what was happening and still got destroyed.

Wait, you had/have an Accent?

The Elantra I used to drive was particularly good at going sideways at 20 mph with a rip of the parking brake.

I had a 2001 hatch years ago. 2.0L Tibby swapped, with complete K-sport suspension, 15" wheels, upgraded brakes, etc.

Was a riot to toss around auto-x and tearing up backroads. My wife still remembers the day I passed her ( going the opposite direction ), then grabbed the e-brake and pulled a smoky 180 in the middle of the road to catch her.

My buddy had a (I think) 2009 with the Alpha. He liked it quite a bit (recently traded it in for a Veloster Turbo), but it was very slow. With a little setup, it carved corners. Those Beta engines can take a pounding. I didn’t think there were people doing swaps on Accents, though.

The 2nd generation had a pretty good following and pretty good aftermarket support. The 2.0L Tibby swap was quite common and a hell of a boost for that little car.

It was so much fun to tear corners up in. Come in hot and hard on the brakes and the inside rear wheel would dangle off the ground. If you came in too hot, you could just aim the nose with some e-brake control, and pour on the throttle to pull it through the corner. Had a hell of a lot of fun in that little car.

Man, I’ve done both of those with a bone stock automatic Elantra. Hyundai makes a decent chassis.

They’re really not as terrible as people like to think. If I didn’t have 3 kids to carry, I would look at picking up another 2nd gen hatch to set up like my old one.
